About
We are pleased to announce the recipient of PRAF x IAF Discover 09 grant as Sidhant Kumar.
Sidhant Kumar is a multidisciplinary artist originally from the Siwan district in Bihar. His relocation to Delhi reflects a larger story of migration shared by many from his village, Pachokhar, who moved to urban settlements like Nangloi in Delhi in search of sustenance economies. This personal history of displacement, and adaptation deeply informs his practice, which often explores themes of migration, memory, landscape, and cultural erasure. His work draws from lived experiences, traditional knowledge and contemporary pedagogic tools to critically engage with ecological and social shifts. Sidhant was selected by a jury composed of Gigi Scaria (Artist), B.V. Suresh (Artist and Educator), Umah Jacob (Director of External Relations & Outreach, India Art Fair), and Anushka Rajendran (Curator, Prameya Art Foundation).
As a result of this grant, Sidhant will present a newly commissioned project at the 2026 edition of the India Art Fair, which will be presented by Prameya Art Foundation. He will receive a production grant of INR200,000, and installation support upto INR300,000. This project, ‘Studies from a Quiet Harvest’, brings together long-term research, and data collected from the Ranholla fields in Delhi. The series of works encompassed by this project is a study on the plight of small-scale farming amidst limited means and infrastructure, unfolding within existing power structures, while engaging with agrarian workers, waiting, soil toxicity, and the lingering aftermath of cultivation.
About Discover
Originally initiated during the COVID-19 pandemic to provide a platform for artists without institutional support through online solo exhibitions, Discover has since been reconfigured in collaboration with the India Art Fair (IAF). In line with Prameya Art Foundation’s commitment to supporting young, emerging artists, Sidhant Kumar's proposal was selected from conceptually rigorous, and research-based applications received from artists without traditional support systems, such as gallery representation, and who have never had a solo exhibition prior to this grant.
